Calmino group AB is an active member of the International Aloe Science Council (IASC) and our Aloe Life® raw materials are certified by the IASC. IASC is a control and verification organization, which provides consumer protection and quality certification. This guarantees high quality aloe vera products.

Our suppliers
Calmino group AB uses only high standard suppliers from around the world, undergoing regular audits and using special manufacturing process which ensures the removal of the notorious “anthraquinones or aloin”. Anthraquinones have a laxative effect and have also been associated with possible carcinogen effects. As a part of the company’s own specifications, Aloe Life® extracts contain <1 ppm of aloin, which is ten times less than the IASC maximum allowed limit.

Quality approval is carried out by Spectral Service, an accredited and GLP certified laboratory. The laboratory is also GMP certified and FDA audited. Aloe Life® raw materials are also organic certified by SGS Europe and are completely free from preservatives.

About aloe vera

The aloe vera plant, often known as the ‘miracle plant’, is well known for its therapeutic properties. It has been used for centuries in traditional medicine and has enjoyed a long history of lay acceptance as a popular herbal remedy. It is perhaps one of the most popular herbal remedies in use today.

The genus aloe contains over 400 different species with Aloe barbadensis Mill. being the most popular and the most commercially grown species. Rather more known as aloe vera, this perennial plant is part of the Aloaceae family and is considered to be the most biologically active. Aloe vera is often referred to as the ‘miracle plant’ and is well known for its therapeutic properties. It has been used for several years within the cosmetic and beauty care industry. In addition, research has linked its health benefits to the treatment/management of several dysfunctions and is increasingly becoming popular as a dietary supplement.

The part of the aloe vera plant which attributes to its beneficial effects, is the colourless gel obtained from the inner part of the fresh leaves, known as the aloe gel. This aloe gel, which is considered to hold the secret to the treatment of a number of disorders and ailments, consists primarily of water (>98%) and polysaccharides. Aloe vera is also contains several nutritional components such as vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids, glycoproteins and other trace elements.
